Timeless Elegance at Sunninghill Weddings in Dorset

So here we are then - 2020! It seems like yesterday we were wrapping up the coverage of our 2019 gigs here on our blog, but we’re all systems go for this year, kicking off with our first time at Sunninghill Weddings, a beautiful wedding venue right in the heart of Dorchester in Dorset.

Although Storm Dennis did his best to interrupt the whole country, the day went thankfully unaffected and we were asked to perform not only for the evening reception but an afternoon acoustic performance too - including the ceremony itself. The songs picked for the ceremony couldn’t have been better chosen: the beautiful soon-to-be Mrs Murphy walked down the to the Elvis classic Can’t Help Falling In Love With You, the signing of the register was accompanied by a rendition of You Are The Reason by Callum Scott, before the newly married Mr and Mrs Murphy exited while our bassist Gary - also a high-quality guitarist! - performed I’m Yours by Jason Mraz.

Our afternoon acoustic set, consisting of mellow, easy listening tunes by artists such as Ed Sheeran, Adele and George Ezra, started around 2.30pm while guests mingled. Although an optional extra, our afternoon chilled sets do always go down well, helping keep guests entertained during the drinks reception.

Then, once they’d had their fill of food and drink, it was then over to the evening. Our first set kicked off at 8pm, and we performed the first dance for the happy couple - an original rendition of Feels Like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk. After playing for around an hour to a rather busy dancefloor, we took a short break while the evening buffet was served - a delicious cheeseboard! - and then resumed at 10.30pm for our send set which was, in no uncertain terms, AWESOME!

Although we’re only three gigs into the year, this one will be hard to beat! The guests were all great fun, everyone was up for a dance, a drink and a singalong, while the happy couple themselves were so welcoming and kind to us, with Mr Murphy getting in touch the following day to say:

“You were absolutely brilliant! Me and my wife were so happy, we loved rocking the night away with you!”

We thank them so much for booking us!

And that’s not to mention the venue - the staff at Sunninghill Weddings in Dorset were so accommodating, keeping us topped up with food and liquids throughout the day and evening, while the setting itself is an absolute gem - think traditional mansion house meets rustic interior meets luscious gardens. Anyone looking to get married in Dorset, we’d highly recommend Sunninghill. Oh, and if you need a wedding band in Dorset, you know who to call!

So three down, many more to go - we’re so looking forward to the rest of our 2020 gigs and are sure it’s going to be one of our best years yet. Keep your eyes on our blog page, we’ll make sure you’re updated regularly!

In the meantime, head over to Sunninghill’s website and read their blog post on Mr and Mrs Murphy's wedding.
