It was wet, it was windy and it was cold... but that didn’t stop us having a great evening at Tom and Tamsin’s wedding last week!
As one of the most experienced wedding bands in Devon, we’ve done our fair share of receptions and parties – but this particular performance, held at the wonderful Horn of Plenty in South Devon, will stand out for many reasons!
Firstly, the newlyweds: Tom and Tamsin, who were such a welcoming and friendly couple, and who looked so happy throughout the party. You could tell that they were having the night of their lives, and we were so honoured to be a part of it. Kudos as well to them – it was one of the first weddings we’ve ever played where everything was running AHEAD of schedule!!
Tom was even kind enough to send us a lovely email the next day:
“Thank you for the performance last night and your professionalism throughout. It’s made everything that much easier with all the other things to plan for the wedding.”
Then there were the guests – well they were just mad! From the minute the first dance, Toothpaste Kisses by The Maccabees, was played – we heard you, whoever you are, shout “tune”! – to our encore of Don’t Look Back In Anger where everyone (and we mean everyone) flocked to the dance floor, arm-in-arm in a circle, singing every word as if they were Noel Gallagher himself, this congregation was there to have fun and then some! They even managed to get a request in, with two people asking us to perform Proud Mary, which we were happy to do at the end of our first set.
Finally, thanks to the staff at The Horn of Plenty, a gorgeous luxury hotel in the heart of Devon’s countryside, who were also incredibly welcoming, friendly and on hand to offer any assistance whatsoever. We’d highly recommend it as a venue – the place was utterly stunning!
