Mr and Mrs Heards Nancarrow Farm Wedding

As one of Cornwall’s top wedding bands, we’ve seen our fair share of Cornish wedding venues - and it was an absolute pleasure to be back at Nancarrow Farm in Truro last month. It may have been our first performance there since 2018, but the venue itself, let alone the hospitality and attention to detail from staff, was as fantastic as we could remember.

A working farm, it’s also an idyllic weddings and events venue, nestled in a hidden valley with 100 acres of Cornish countryside surrounding it. Simply beautiful.

We were back for Mr and Mrs Heard’s wedding - a midweek shindig, which meant they received a free acoustic afternoon performance as per our current special offer. We kicked things off with the chilled session, starting around 2pm and playing for an hour, before the other band members arrived at 6pm, setting up swiftly for our first song at 7.30pm. A pleasure as always, our first tune was the newlyweds first dance - a song called Simply by Florida Georgie Line. Not a tune we were all familiar with, but one we all thoroughly enjoyed learning and playing. It was certainly a little different for a first dance; we recommend a listen!

Cracking on into our first set, we performed for 45 minutes before taking a break so the guests could enjoy the evening’s refreshments (in the form of a hog roast). Then, once everyone had enjoyed a bite to eat, everyone came together for a spectacular photo, complete with sparklers! It was a truly memorable moment and made for a stunning sight, as you can see for yourselves…

It was then time for us to bring out the big guns for the second set and, along with our usual dancefloor fillers, we had a few requests. These included: Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk, and Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon - three absolute bangers, which got everyone up and dancing into the night.

Fun fact: Shut Up and Dance is probably our most requested song along with The Killers’ Mr Brightside - and we can see why, as all ages love to dance and sing along to it!

It was fantastic to be back at Nancarrow Farm in Cornwall again, and an absolute pleasure to be asked to be the wedding band to help the happy couple celebrate their big day. A huge thanks to them for asking us to play a part in their evening party.

And thanks as well to Nancarrow’s staff for their help, care and attention throughout the afternoon and evening. It was a great day, and we certainly hope it’s not another three years before we return!
